Prenatal education promotes the maintenance of healthy lifestyles during pregnancy, helping expectant mothers manage stress, support a healthy diet, avoid harmful chemicals and situations, recognize warning signs and symptoms that mean something may be wrong with their pregnancy, and prepare for labor and delivery. How you feed your baby is one of many decisions that you will be asked to make during your pregnancy and in the early days of being a parent. It’s important to make an informed decision on how to feed your baby, be prepared with accurate information about infant feeding, and feel supported as you learn to feed and take care of your baby.

Hypertension is a complex health condition that occurs when your blood pressure is higher than normal. As you get older, it is more likely you will develop hypertension.
If you have hypertension, you are at a higher risk of having a stroke, a heart attack or damaging your blood vessels and/or organs (e.g. heart, brain, kidney). We have many programs at the clinic to help you manage your hypertension. As well, some of these resources may also be helpful:

Great resources are available locally through the Community Counselling Centre in North Bay. Also, here are some online resources which may be helpful:
Self-management is defined as “The tasks that individuals must undertake to live well with one or more chronic conditions. These tasks including having the confidence to deal with medical management, role management and emotional management of their conditions”*. The North Bay NPLC, in collaboration with its patients strives to set attainable self-management goals.
Workshops are available throughout the district and we encourage you to sign up for one of these sessions. They are offered once/week over 6 weeks.

We promote Quitting Smoking at our clinic and provide a variety of resources to help you. We can provide counseling, and prescribe many smoking cessation products to help you on this journey.
